You first have to make the decision to workout and believe that working out is important and valuable to you. It’s going to make your life more enjoyable, you’ll have more energy to do things, and it will probably increase your life span.

Mistaken Belief

One of the mistakes that people make is to think that exercise has to take a huge amount of time- that they have to commit several hours a week to it. It’s just not true.

You’re probably thinking that you need 30-45 minutes a day on the treadmill. Not only is that unnecessary, running or walking on a treadmill is not the most efficient use of your time. There’s nothing wrong with it and it certainly has its benefits, but it’s not the most effective form of exercise for becoming fit. Lifting weights or resistance training is much more efficient for burning calories, adding muscle, and reducing fat.

High Intensity Interval Training

If you’re looking to save time, it’s been proven in study after study that High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) burns more calories than running or walking, and continues to burn calories long after you’ve stopped exercising. You’re probably thinking that’s cool, but how much time is that going to take me?

Check this out- with High Intensity Interval Training, you do 30 seconds of an exercise, then 10 seconds of rest, 30 seconds of another exercise, 10 seconds of rest, for a total of 12 exercises in seven minutes. These are exercises you can do right at home like jumping jacks, wall-sit, push-ups, crunches, squats, and others. You can do a full body workout in just seven minutes and if you feel energetic, do it again for another 7 minutes.

Workout Apps

If you search the App store or Android store, there are several free apps with “7 Minute Workout” in the title (some are 8 minutes). These apps will demonstrate how to do the exercises and coach you through the workout, telling you how much time is left for an exercise, when to rest, and when to switch to the next exercise.

Still Can’t Find The Time?

If you still can’t find the time, the seven minutes to do that every day or every other day, then maybe you really just want to stay the way you are, but I’d sure rather see you be the exception.
